The Perfect Great British Scones
We've recently started stocking Jams from Three Fruity Ladies just down the road and it got me thinking... nay... daydreaming about scones! What better way to enjoy some delicious homemade jam than when it's sandwiched between two warm.. buttery.. crumbly... crispy..... soft......... ok let's just get to the recipe. Original recipe here.
IngredientsThis should make about 8 scones. Serve with clotted cream and whichever jam takes your fancy! Our favourites are Tayberry, Strawberry Fiz, and Raspberry & Amaretto.
- 250g self-raising flour
- Pinch of salt
- 50g caster sugar
- 50g unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1 medium eggs
- 100ml buttermilk, plus extra if needed (or use 2 tbsp natural yoghurt made up to 100ml with milk)
